CLEVELAND, Miss. — Despite several standout individual performances, the Delta State University men's swimming and diving team came up short Friday, falling to Montevallo by a 145–114 score in the Senior Meet at the Ronald G. Mayers Aquatic Center.
The highlight of the meet came on the diving boards, where
Santiago Santodomingo captured first place in the 3-meter dive, posting a winning score of 551.93. The performance marked one of the top individual efforts of the day and provided a major boost for the Statesmen.
In the pool,
Austin Huffhines turned in a strong showing with a win in the 200-yard freestyle (1:41.24) and later added a victory in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 46.59.
Riley Oakes claimed first place in the 100-yard backstroke (53.79) and also won the 200-yard individual medley in 1:57.95.
Ethan Baylin added a win in the 50-yard freestyle (21.38), while Delta State picked up additional points in the relays, including a runner-up finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
The Statesmen will be back in the pool on Tuesday, February 17
th as they will be participating in the 2026 New South Intercollegiate Swim Conference Championships in Pensacola, Fla.
