CLEVELAND, Miss. — The Delta State Women's Swimming & Diving Program wrapped up the Thanksgiving Invite with a second-place finish, scoring
1,013.5 points and delivering one of the program's biggest highlights of the season: a
new school record in the 100 freestyle.
The energy in the Ronald G. Mayers Aquatics Center rose even higher during the women's 100 freestyle, where
Olivia Murphy broke the Delta State school record, stopping the clock in
50.47 to earn the event victory.
Zinna Nimander (50.81) and
Mikayla Kloth added additional scoring finishes, pushing DSU to a major point haul in the sprint event.
The finals session opened with a strong distance showing as
Rhianna Foster took runner-up in the 1650 free with a 17:17.97, followed by important scoring efforts from
Jessica Gannon and
Julia Maciak.
Momentum surged during the backstroke final where
Aspen Shipp (2:03.01) and
Kennedy Cleasant (2:04.34) delivered key top-three finishes, with
Kaley Davis adding more championship heat points.
Depth continued to shine as
Chloe Skelt,
Kiera Cloete, and
Pia Delkeskamp all reached the A-final of the 200 breaststroke, keeping DSU firmly in second place overall.
In the 200 butterfly,
Janne Bodemer delivered one of the most dominant swims of the night, charging to a
1:59.73 victory and widening DSU's point total.
The Lady Statesmen capped the meet with a dramatic run in the
400-freestyle relay, where
Murphy, Kloth, Shipp, and Nimander combined for a fast
3:22.25 finish and second place, nearly matching UWF at the wall.
The Lady Statesmen take a few weeks off before returning to the Ronald G. Mayers Aquatics Center for a tri-meet with Ouachita Baptist and William Carey on Friday, December 19
th.
