PENSACOLA, Fla. — The Delta State University men's swim and dive team delivered a record-setting performance Friday night at the 2026 NSISC Championships and currently stands in third place with 713.5 team points entering the final day.
On the boards, junior
Santiago Santodomingo captured the conference title in 3-meter diving with a score of 596.10, setting a new NSISC record in the process. Senior
Ryan Whaley added a fourth-place finish, while
Bryon Croom and Jake Bigler provided additional scoring depth.
Senior
Mateus Franco set the tone early with a dominant victory in the 500-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 4:24.00 to earn an NCAA invite time and conference title. Junior
Austin Huffhines added a sixth-place finish in the A final (4:38.12).
Delta State continued to pile on points in the 100-yard breaststroke, placing three swimmers in the A final. Sophomore
Jacob Hamblen finished second with a NCAA B consideration time of 54.37. Senior
Neill Mauss (55.36) and junior
Ethan Baylin (55.39) followed in fourth and fifth, respectively.
In the 200-yard butterfly, sophomore
Kacper Mochnal delivered one of the fastest swims in program history, winning the event with an NCAA invite time of 1:45.82. Alessandro Giustolisi (1:56.20) and
Carter Foster (1:58.58) also contributed points in the consolation finals.
Delta State closed the evening with a third-place finish in the 4x50-yard freestyle relay as
Ethan Baylin,
Jacob Hamblen,
Lars Hetzel and
Austin Huffhines combined for a time of 1:21.60.
With 713.5 points, the Statesmen remain in contention in third place heading into the championship's final day.
