Loomis Named DSU Swim and Dive’s Next Head Coach

CLEVELAND, Miss. – Delta State University Director of Athletics Mike Kinnison announced the hiring of Trevor Loomis as the Head Coach of the Statesmen and Lady Statesmen Swim and Dive programs.

Loomis brings more than two decades of coaching experience at the club and collegiate levels, with a proven track record of developing elite swimmers while building competitive, disciplined programs. He most recently served as an assistant coach at Oklahoma Christian University, where he played a key role in a historic stretch for the Eagles that included more than 50 school records broken over two seasons.

"Trevor has provided positive leadership and direction during our interim period." Kinnison Stated. "We look forward to supporting him as he continues to advance our program and develop our student athletes."

At Oklahoma Christian, Loomis helped coach Division II national champion JT Amerin (200 breaststroke, 2024) and national runner-up Tammy Greenwood (200 backstroke, 2025). He also has experience coaching internationally, serving as the personal coach for Egyptian Olympian Ali Khalafalla and Puerto Rico Olympian Jarod Arroyo, who placed 20th at the World Championships in 2024.

Prior to his collegiate coaching experience, Loomis spent 18 years with Alamo Area Aquatics Association/NEISD in San Antonio, Texas, serving as a Lead Senior Coach and Associate Head Coach. During his tenure, he led programs of more than 130 athletes, coached swimmers to TAGS, Sectionals, Futures, and Junior National meets, and managed a staff of assistant coaches while overseeing training plans, meet scheduling, and athlete development.

"I'm so appreciative of the trust and belief that Coach Kinnison and the whole of Delta State has shown me." Loomis Said. "I couldn't ask for a better opportunity with such an historic program. So excited to lead this team to new heights for years to come."

Loomis is a longtime member in good standing with USA Swimming and brings extensive experience in seasonal planning, individualized coaching, recruiting knowledge, and operating collegiate timing systems.

DSU will be back in action two weeks from now as they will participate in the New South Intercollegiate Swim Conference Championships starting on Tuesday, February 17th at the University of West Florida.
