Melanie Tombers, a sophomore member of the Lady Statesmen swimming and diving team, has been named the GoStatesmen.com/Cable One Female Student-Athlete of the Week after being named NSISC Female Swimmer of the Year at the NSISC Championships.

The Dusseldorf, Germany native claimed victories in the 1000-freestyle, 400-IM and 200-breaststroke.

Tombers, who was the third straight member of the Lady Statesmen to earn at least a share of Female Swimmer of the Year honors, was also a member of the 400 and 800 relay teams, which claimed victories at the NSISC Championships.
