Delta State cross country runner, Rikita Saunders, has been tabbed the CableOne GoStatesmen.com Female Athlete of the Week for the third time this year.
The freshman was the top finisher for the Lady Statesmen at Saturday’s Gulf South Conference Championships in Decatur, Alabama, helping the squad to a tenth place overall fninsh. Saunders turned in the fifth fastest 5K time, a 19:06, in school history and earned Second Team All-GSC honors by coming in 20th place overall.
Saunders and the Lady Statesmen cross country team next return to action November 4th, when they compete in the NCAA South Region Championships in Lakeland, Florida at Holloway Park.
