MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. -- The University of North Alabama fired a final round two-over-par 290 to hold off Delta State, who totaled a 593, and win the 2010 North Alabama Spring Classic at the Robert Trent Jones at the Shoals Fighting Joe course.

Led by tournament medalist #Chase Smith#, Delta State also shot a final round 290, but failed to make up the five strokes that the Statesmen trailed by after the opening round. Arkansas Tech was third with a 599 total as the Wonder Boys trimmed 27 strokes off their Monday total. Central Alabama Community College was fourth (600) and Tennessee Tech was fifth (501) in the 20-team event.

Smith, a Vicksburg native, had rounds of 75 and 69 to post a 144 total and claim medalist honors. North Alabama's Jake Greer and Lindenwood's Paul Colditz tied for second at 146. Also earning all-tournament honors with 148 totals were Seth Fair of Indianapolis, Joshua Simer of Tennessee Tech, Brett Munson of North Alabama, Jake Heatherly of Tennessee Tech, Matt Miller of Central Missouri and Colton Dillard of Arkansas Tech.

Two Statesmen also finished in the top 20, as Seth McBrayer came in with a 149 (73-76) to tie for 10th and Austin Smithers tied for 14th with a 150 (76-74).

Jordan Breaux finished 39th with a 154 (83-71) and Casey Patterson was 62nd with a 158 (79-79) to round out the scoring for the Statesmen.

The Statesmen return to action April 12-13 at the Harding Bisons Classic in Searcy, Ark.
