Sam Dunning
CLEVELAND -
The sounds of putts, drives and divots will be heard soon, as the Delta State University Statesmen golf team kicks off the 2010-2011 schedule on Friday, Sept. 17 at the Derrall Foreman Classic at Cleveland Country Club.  The two-day event will jump start a season featuring 10 regular season tournaments.

"We have a very ambitious schedule this season," DSU head coach Sam Dunning stated.  "The Foreman Classic is always one of the biggest events we put on each year and this season is no different.  We're expecting at least 10-15 teams and the field will be quite competitive."

The schedule features road trips to several of the nation's top collegiate tournaments, including the Southeastern Collegiate Classic in Valdosta, Ga., Aflac/CSU Cougar Classic in Columbus, Ga., and the Indian Bayou Invitational in Destin, Fla.

"We're going to face the best NCAA Division II has to offer during the regular season and our guys are excited about the challenge," Dunning added.
