CLEVELAND – The Delta State University women's tennis team (6-11) split in Gulf South Conference action on the road first falling to the University of West Alabama (13-8) 6-3 and rebounding to win 6-0 over Christian Brothers University (0-8). The Lady Statesmen also dropped a 6-1 decision to Alcorn State University in Cleveland on April 15.

The green-and-white took to the courts striking first in doubles competition taking the first match on the racquets of Erin Teivans and Lisa Jamais who defeated their opponents 9-7. DSU closed out doubles play losing the next two contests and managed to pick up two singles competition victories before falling by a combined score of 6-3.

The Lady Statesmen bounced back in Memphis, Tenn. blanking the Buccaneers 6-0 on their home court. Jamais and Amanda Robertson led the way for the green-and-white in doubles competition with an 8-0 victory with Elsa Wantzen and Sandra Tora both recording 6-0, 6-0 shutouts in singles play.

Delta State finished up the regular season falling to Division I opponent Alcorn State University 6-1.

he Lady Statesmen return to action on April 21, in Montgomery, Ala. for the Gulf South Conference Tournament. Tournament draws and details will be announced at a later date.
