CLEVELAND, Mississippi – The Delta State University swimming and diving teams return to action on Friday, Nov. 13 for a dual meet in Arkadelphia, Ark. The two teams will take on NSISC rivals Henderson State and Ouachita Baptist.

LAST TIME OUT:Â
The No. 8 Statesmen swimmers defeated three-of-four teams at the Lindenwood Invite, while the No. 7 Lady Statesmen defeated two-of-three teams in the same meet.

Matthew Swaine claimed first place on the 1 and 3-Meter boards at the Drury Invite.

Hailey Leonard finished in second place in the 1-Meter competition and
Cathryn Laird finished second in the 3-Meter.

ABOUT THE STATESMEN:Â
Mattia Schirru was named NSISC Swimmer of the Week on Oct. 27, as he helped lead the Statesmen to a 114-91 win over No. 18 Missouri S&T on Friday, Oct. 23. The following day, DSU picked up victories over three-of-four teams at the Lindenwood dual meet.

The Giaveno, Italy native won the 100-Freestyle at Missouri S&T in 45.56, currently the nation's fourth-best time, and was part of the 200-Medley relay which swam the nation's ninth-fastest time against Lindenwood (1:33.21). Schirru also won the 100-Freestyle (45.62) at the Lindenwood meet. He was also part of the winning 400-Freestyle relay team against Missouri S&T.

2015 NSISC Men's Swimmer of the Year
Matteo Fraschi owns the nation's fourth-best time (2:02.61) in the 200-Breaststroke and the seventh-best (56.40) in the 100-Breaststroke.

After a strong freshman campaign in which he qualified for the NCAA National Championships,
Cody Lavoie currently holds the nation's fourth-best time (4:02.82) in the 400-IM and the sixth-best (1:52.65) in the 200-IM.

For the fourth time in the history of the two-year award, Swaine was named NSISC Diver of the Week.

With a 470.54 on the 3-Meter board, Swaine achieved the NCAA qualifying standard for the second time this year. He claimed the 1-Meter competition with an 11-dive score of 422.71.

DSU was picked to repeat as NSISC champions. The Statesmen claimed all possible first place votes.

ABOUT THE LADY STATESMEN:Â
Anastasia Klyarovskaya was named NSISC Swimmer of the Week on Oct. 27 following a big meet at Lindenwood. She claimed the 100-Backstroke in 56.36, which is currently the best time in Division II. Klyarovskaya also won the 100-Butterfly in 58.40 and was a member of the 200-Medley relay team that won with a time of 1:48.05, which is among the nation's top-10 times.

Melanie Tombers owns the sixth-fastest time in the country (10:31.63) in the 1000-Freestyle.

The Lady Statesmen have the nation's sixth-best time (1:47.40) in the 200- Medley relay and the 10th-best time (3:58.20) in the 400-Medley relay.

DSU was picked to finish second in the NSISC Preseason Coaches Poll.

SERIES NOTE:Â
 The Statesmen defeated Henderson State 191-109 on Nov. 14, 2014 in a dual meet, before finishing the home regular-season schedule on Jan. 16 with a 175-47 victory over the Reddies. In the dual meet with HSU, the Statesmen topped Ouachita Baptist 217-71. Â

On Nov. 14, 2014, the Lady Statesmen defeated Henderson State 189-102 and Ouachita Baptist 223-58. DSU was victorious 195-47 in the second meeting with Henderson State on Jan. 16, 2015.
