GSC Tournament Bracket
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Delta State University women's tennis team earned the No. 8 seed in the upcoming GSC Tournament on April 20 in Montgomery, Ala. at Lagoon Park. The Lady Statesmen will face No. 1 seed West Florida at 9:00 a.m. in the opening round of the tournament.
This marks the 12th appearance in program history for the Lady Statesmen in the tournament.
Delta State enters the tournament with an overall record of 5-15 and 3-7 in conference play.
Alex Howe leads the Lady Statesmen with an overall 6-6 record and 4-5 in conference in singles followed by
Sara Alvarez-Rubio (5-5, 3-2 GSC). In doubles competition, Howe and
Nathalia Sato lead the group with a 7-8 record and 4-5 in the GSC.
Joining Delta State in the tournament field are No. 1 West Florida, No. 2 Valdosta State, No. 3 West Alabama, No. 4 Mississippi College, No. 5 North Alabama, No. 6 Alabama Huntsville, No. 7 Lee and No. 8 Delta State.
The conference tournament will be held in Montgomery, Ala., at the O'Connor Tennis Center and Lagoon Park, on Thursday, April 20 and run through Saturday, April 22, with Sunday, April 23, reserved as a weather makeup day.
