MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Delta State University women's tennis team were swept by top-seeded University of West Florida, 5-0, in the opening round of the Gulf South Conference Tournament at Lagoon Park on Thursday morning.
The Argonauts quickly grabbed a 1-0 lead after Diana Vlad and Valeria Mantilla defeated
Sarah Nash and
Madison Wages in the third spot, 8-0. After a win on the second and third court, West Florida entered singles competition with a 3-0 advantage over Delta State.
The momentum continued for the Argonauts in singles after Valeria Mantilla blanked Wages in the sixth spot 6-0, 6-0 and Heather Mixon defeated Nash 6-0, 6-1 on the fifth court to give West Florida the 5-0 victory in the opening round.
