CLEVELAND, Mississippi – Delta State University head women's tennis coach
Jeffrey Farris recently announced the signing of three student-athletes for the 2018 season: Kyra Holway, Nathalia Stelzer, and Jemina Linn Sorman.
Holway joins the Lady Statesmen from Meridian Community College, where she helped guide MCC to a runner-up finish at Region XXIII/MACJC Championships. Holway finished her career at MCC with a 41-13 record in singles competition. As a freshman, she won the singles championship at the Region XXIII/MACJC tournament. Off the court, Holway is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, Phil Hardin Honors College, MCC Athlete of the Year and was selected to Who's Who Among Students at Two-Year Colleges and Universities. She currently boasts a 4.0 GPA.
A native of Botucatu, Brazil, Nathalia Stelzer joins the Lady Statesmen as a true freshman. She attended ADV high school in Botucatu, Brazil, where she played for Coach Carlinhos. Stelzer primarily played tennis, but also lettered in volleyball.
Sorman will bring upper-class leadership to the Lady Statesmen squad. A native of Jonkoping, Sweden, Sorman comes to Delta State from Upper Iowa University where she played two season with the Peacocks. She finished the 2017 season with a 7-6 singles record and 8-4 record in doubles and helped guide the Peacocks to a quarterfinal finish at the 2017 NSIC Tennis Championships. She earned her Bachelor's degree following the completion of the 2017 tennis season at Upper Iowa University, and will pursue a Master's in exercise science at Delta State.
