Box Score SOUTHAVEN, Miss. - The Delta State University women's tennis team fell 7-2 against Gulf South Conference rival, the University of Alabama in Huntsville, on Friday, Feb. 9, in Southaven, Miss., for the 2018 season and conference opener. The Lady Statesmen were scheduled to conclude the day with a match against Blue Mountain College, but the match was rained out.
 
UAH took an early lead sweeping the doubles competition to grab the first three match points.
 
The Lady Statesmen picked up two singles victories as Charlotte Le Flohic and Ione' Deroode won their matches. However, the Chargers held on to the match victory, defeating Delta State, 7-2.
 
The Lady Statesmen were able to bounce back against Blue Mountain College by taking an early, 3-0, lead in the doubles competition. Jemina Linn Sorman/Charlotte Le Flohic, Nathalia Stelzer/Ione' Deroode, and Sarah Nash and Kyra Holway clinched the doubles victory. In singles action, Sorman, Le Flohic, and Holway were leading, but the match was called off because of rain. The results will not count, and the match will not be rescheduled.
