CLEVELAND, Miss. – No. 12/14 Delta State University baseball team's (22-9, 13-7 GSC) rally from a 5-0 deficit came up short in a 5-3 loss to the University of Alabama Huntsville (19-11, 10-7 GSC) on Sunday at Harvey Stadium-Ferriss Field.
Delta State rallied for three runs and had the tying and go-ahead runs on the base paths in the ninth. A run scored when
Hayden White was hit by a pitch and
Patrick Hodges doubled home
Luke Ketchum and Majeur with two outs. Pinch hitter
Payton Lane was hit by a pitch to load the bases again before a strikeout ended the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Statesmen put the leadoff runner on four of the first five innings but could not scratch a run across.
- Nolan Ramsey hit a solo home run to give UAH a 1-0 lead in the second.
- UAH extended the lead to 5-0 with a four-run fourth. Landon Ezell had a two-run singled followed by an RBI single by Jack Stamper while the third run scored on a ground out.
- Delta State scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth and had the bases loaded with two outs. Jake Barlow reached on an error with one out followed by singles by CJ Estave and Matt Majeur to load the bases. A run scored when Hayden White was hit by a pitch and after a strikeout, Patrick Hodges doubled home Luke Ketchum and Majeur. Pinch hitter Payton Lane was hit by a pitch to load the bases again before a strikeout looking ended the game.
ON THE MOUND
- Dalton Minton (5-2) allowed five runs on 10 hits with three strikeouts and two walks as the pitcher of record for the Statesmen.
- UAH starter Harper Case (3-1) earned the win, recording seven strikeouts and gave up three runs, two earned, on five hits.
- Brooks Brophy (1) allowed one hit and recorded two strikeouts in the ninth to get the save.
NOTEABLES
- Majeur finished the day 2-for-4 with a run scored to lead the Statesmen at the plate.
- Herrington and Estave each had a hit and Hodges had a two-RBI double.
- Ezzell led UAH, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
