Delta State Swim and Dive Head to Atlanta For Final Regular Season Meet

CLEVELAND, Miss. – Delta State University Swimming & Diving are headed to Atlanta, Ga. to take on the University of West Florida and Emory University on Saturday morning. Emory will be hosting the Statesmen and Lady Statesmen for the first time since 2016.
Last time out the Statesmen and Lady Statesmen won their final senior day meet against Henderson State and then competed strong against Division 1 LSU. In their final home meet of the year.


Last time out
Against Henderson State: 
  • The Lady Statesmen "A" 200 yard medley team of Madelyn ByrdMadison LavoieLucia Martelli, and Sophia Waddingham won by three seconds over Henderson State with a time of 1:47:91
  • The Statesmen "A" team of Giulio BrugnoniMatey RezashkiEmanuel Fava, and Daniel Wiseman beat the Delta State "B" by two seconds with a time of 1:34:83.
  • Isabella Kelly won the 1000 free with a time of 10:38:08 with Sommer Rhodes coming in second.
  • John Stewart won the men's 1000 free with a time of 9:39:91 winning by 11 seconds.
  • The Lady Statesmen claimed the top four spots in the 200 free with Peyton Osborn earning the win in 1:56:40. Celeste TurnerVictoria Brady, and Rylee Daniels finished second, third, and fourth respectively.
  • Michael Maly won the men's 200 in 1:46:11. Josh Armond took second place.
  • Madelyn Byrd took second in the 50 free with a time of 24.71 and Mackenzie McGuire was third with a time of 25.06.
  •  Alex Miller finished in second in the 50 free on the men's side with a time of 21.85.
  • Lavoie continued to dominate the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:08:50 with Chelsea Borrowdale coming in second.
  • On senior day Matey Rezashki won the 200 IM on the men's side with a time of 1:54:37.
  • Lucia Martelli took first place in the 100 fly with a time of 57.04.
  • Alex Miller took second in the men's 100 fly and Carson Traylor came in third.
  • Celeste Turner took second in the 100 yard free with Kelley coming in third and Erin Franklin coming in fourth.
  • Giulio Brugnoni won the men's 100 free with a time of 47.59.
  • Lavoie won her second race of the day with a time of 58.84.
  • Fava won the men's 100 back with a time of 54.12 and Jared Ehrman came in second.
  • Osborn win her second as well in the 500 free with a time of 5.10 flat.
  • Maly came in second in the men's 500 free.
  • Chelsea Borrowdale win the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:07:94
  • Rezashki won the 100 yard breast on the men's side with a time of 56.65. Gayuk came in second.
  • The 200 yard free relay team of Martelli, Byrd, Brady, and Osborn won for the Lady Statesmen.
  • On the men's 200 free relay, the Statesmen team of Brugnoni, Gavin BlackshearNoble Reynolds, and Maly came in second with a time of 1:26:54

Against LSU:
 
  • In the women's 200 medley relay, the Lady Statesmen came in second with a time of 1:46:18 which was four seconds behind LSU.
  • The men's 200 medley relay had DSU also come in second with a time of 1:32:19 two seconds behind LSU.
  • Giulio Brugnoni came in third in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 49.27
  • Madison Lavoie finished in third in the 100 yard breastroke with a time of 1:05:90
  • Peyton Osborn was third in the 1000 free in 10:39:23.
  • John Stewart was third in the men's 1000 free as well with a time of 9:38:85.
  • Celeste Turner took third in the 200 yard butterfly in 2:04:87.
  • In the men's 200 yard butterfly Matey Rezashki took second with a time of 1:51:98.
  • Rezashki then turned around and won the 200 yard breaststroke in a time of 2:05:02 for the first win for the Statesmen on the day.
  • Victoria Brady came in third in the 500 free with a time of 5:11:65.
  • Josh Armond and Michael Maly came in second and third in the 500 free with times of 4:49:77 and 4:49:80 respectively.
  • Turner came in second in the 100 butterfly and Madelyn Byrd took third.
  • Brugnoni won the 100 butterfly for the second win of the day with a time of 49.10
  • Lavoie took second in the 200 individual medley.

Up next, DSU will host the NSISC Championships February 19-22 at the Ronnie Mayers Aquatic Center.
