GENEVA, Ohio. -- Competing on what ended up being a historic day in professional and collegiate athletics, the Delta State University women's swimming and diving team closed its 2019-20 season at the NCAA Division II National Championships on Thursday.
Swimmers had completed the day two preliminary qualifying swims and dives and were prepped for finals when the NCAA announced its cancellation of at winter and spring sports due to COVID-19 concerns.

INSIDE THE LANE LINES (PRELIMS)
- Chelsea Borrowdale swam the 400 individual medley in a time of 4:22.14 to qualify for the consolation final.
- Lucia Martelli qualified for the consolation final in the 100-fly with a time of 54.31.
- In the 200 free, sophomore Celeste Turner swam a 1:50.02 to qualify for the consolation final.
- The Delta Relay of Madelyn Byrd, Madison Lavoie, Martelli, and Turner swam a 3:46.23 in the 400 medley to finish 13th and qualify for the evening's consolation final.

The event served as the final competition for the Statesmen, on a day that turned out to the final collegiate competition for many schools and athletes across the country.
