GSC WOMEN'S TENNIS ALL-DECADE TEAM
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Former Delta State University women's tennis player Laura Mongin was recognized by the Gulf South Conference by being named Honorable Mention All-Decade as announced by the league on Thursday, July 2.
Mongin, a Jaunay Clan, France native, was the 2011 GSC West Player of the Year after helping the Lady Statesmen tennis squad to an appearance in the GSC Championship semifinals. Delta State, which was ranked No. 34 that season, went 6-0 in league play and 13-6 overall en route to capturing the school's fifth consecutive GSC West Division title at the time.
Mongin posted a 14-3 record at No. 1 singles that year, including a perfect 6-0 mark against GSC West opponents that season. In the 2010 campaign, Mongin posted a 13-2 record in singles matches and went 11-4 in doubles matches for the Lady Statesmen, who posted an 11-7 mark that year. For her Lady Statesmen career, Mongin collected a pair of First Team All-GSC West selections for Delta State, in 2010 and 2011.
