Baseball Series With West Florida Moved to Pensacola, Fla.

CLEVELAND, Miss  -- Winter weather in the Cleveland, Miss., area has forced Delta State University's Gulf South Conference baseball series against the University of West Florida to be moved to Jim Spooner Field in Pensacola, Fla. The series starts with a doubleheader on Sunday at 1 p.m. and concludes with a single game on Monday at 1 p.m.

DSU's series against the University of Arkansas-Monticello last weekend was postponed due to winter weather conditions in the Monticello, Ark., area.

Shorter University took two out of three games from the Statesmen to open the 2021 season, winning game one of the series 3-0 and game three of the series 14-8.

Delta State snagged a win in game two of the weekend series 8-4 behind home runs by Hayden White and Patrick Hodges. Hodges was 2-for-3 with a three-run homer, while Christian Day worked five innings on the hill to earn the win. Day allowed a pair of runs on four hits and struck out six Hawks hitters.
