MONTEVALLO, Ala. -- The Delta State University Lady Statesmen swim team started off 2022 with a defeat of the University of Montevallo, and the diving team defeated Birmingham-Southern College to open the spring semester portion of the season.

INSIDE THE ROPES
- The 200 yard medley relay team of Martina Rossetti, Alexis Moon, Madelyn Byrd, and Danielle Solkow posted a time of 1:50.78, which was a Montevallo pool record by more than five seconds.
- Rachel Kramer won the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:16.03.
- Peyton Osborn took the top spot in the 200 yard free with a time of 2:01.20.
- Madison Lavoie won the 100 yard backstroke finishing in 59.35 and set another pool record for the Lady Statesmen.
- Solkow was first in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:10.18.
- Byrd won the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:11.42 and tacked on another pool record for Delta State.
- Tristen Fant nudged a pool record by a half-second and picked up the win in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 25.38.
- Lavoie won her second race of the day in the 100 yard freestyle, and snagged another pool record, with a time of 53.91.
- Rossetti secured a Montevallo pool record in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 1:58.62.
- Kramer won the second distance race of the day, the 500 freestyle, with a time of 5:34.22.
- Byrd's 59.13 was another pool record and was good enough to get a victory in the 100 yard butterfly.
- Farmer won race title number three in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:16.91.
ON THE BOARDS:
- Hannah Babcock won the one-meter and three-meter diving competitions with scores of 261.07 and 225.07, respectively.
- Carly Marsh came in second on both diving boards.
