DUNCAN, OKLA. – The Delta State University men's golf team shot 914 (+50) while facing windy conditions at the Hrnicar yesterday (Oct. 21) and this morning (Oct. 22) hosted by Cameron University.
Leading the Statesmen were the freshman duo of
Anniston McIlwain and
Zach Olsen both chalked down a 223 (+7) to put them in a three-way tie for 11
th place in the player leaderboard.
McIlwain started the tournament off with a 78 (+6) but improved his score throughout the tournament as he shot a 74 (+2) in the second round and finished the tournament with his second lowest score of the season with a 71 (-1). McIlwain would have a team high nine birdies and an Eagle in his three rounds played.
Olsen started the tournament birding three out of the first nine holes shooting a 71 (-1). Olsen would finish the final two rounds with a 78 (+6) and a 74 (+2). Olsen would have seven birdies and an Eagle in the three rounds.
The Statesmen finish their fall season with a 17-9 overall record and a 290.6 average score per round. The Statesmen are currently ranked 49
th in the nation and eighth in the region.
