CLEVELAND, Miss. — The
Delta State University Women's Swim and Dive Program turned in a powerful Friday night session at the Thanksgiving Invite, holding firm in
second place with 380 points behind multiple podium finishes and a commanding relay victory.
The evening opened with a standout performance from freshman
Rhianna Foster, who clocked a
third-place finish in the 500 freestyle (5:01.53) after a significant drop from prelims. Sophomore
Julia Maciak added additional scoring with a finals appearance.
Delta State shined in the
200 IM, where
Chloe Skelt surged to a
runner-up finish (2:04.10) and
Pia Delkeskamp followed closely in
fourth (2:05.79). Senior
Janne Bodemer picked up critical points by winning the B-final in 2:06.19.
The Lady Statesmen sprint crew delivered one of the program's best sessions of the season.
Olivia Murphy (22.85) and
Zinna Nimander (22.98) finished
second and third in a stacked 50 freestyle final.
Kaley Davis,
Aspen Shipp, and
Kennedy Cleasant joined them in the A-final to pile on valuable points. Delkeskamp and
Jordon Kloth added more scoring from the B-final.
The highlight of the night came in the
200-freestyle relay, where Delta State dominated the field with a
first-place time of 1:31.37. The winning quartet of
Nimander, Davis, Shipp, and Murphy produced one of the top marks so far this season, while DSU's "B" relay also impressed with a third-place overall finish (1:34.32).
With two days remaining, the Lady Statesmen will be back in the pool tomorrow morning for the Preliminary rounds of day three starting at 10:00 a.m.
