CLEVELAND, Miss. — The Delta State University Women's Swim and Dive program continued their strong showing at the Thanksgiving Invite, closing Saturday night in
second place with 724.5 points after a series of standout swims highlighted by podium finishes and relay excellence.
The night started with a statement in the
100 Butterfly, where DSU placed
four swimmers in the A-Final.
Zinna Nimander led the way with an electric
54.61 to win the event, while
Aspen Shipp and
Janne Bodemer tied for second in
55.84, and
Mikayla Kloth finished just behind in fourth. The massive scoring haul marked one of the strongest events of the night for Delta State.
Bodemer returned later with another exceptional performance, finishing
second in the 400 IM with a time of
4:25.10.
In the
200 Freestyle, the Lady Statesmen continued to stack points with four finalists in the A-heat.
Kennedy Cleasant,
Rhianna Foster,
Kaley Davis, and
Mikayla Kloth all delivered top-eight finishes in a tightly packed field.
The breaststroke group also added big production, highlighted by
Chloe Skelt's runner-up finish in the
100 Breaststroke (1:03.53), followed closely by
Kiera Cloete in fourth and
Pia Delkeskamp in sixth.
Sophomore standout
Olivia Murphy headlined the backstroke swims, taking
second in the 100 Backstroke with a
55.13, while
Shipp,
Cleasant, and
Davis also secured valuable finals points.
In the session finale, Delta State delivered a strong performance in the
400 Medley Relay, as the A-unit of
Shipp, Skelt, Nimander, and Murphy clocked a
3:43.65 to finish
second overall. The B-team followed with a season-best
3:48.41, giving the Lady Statesmen critical late-session points.
With multiple momentum-building swims and significant Saturday scoring, the Lady Statesmen remain firmly in the hunt heading into the final day of competition tomorrow at the Ronald G. Mayers Aquatics Center.
