CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University Women's Swimming and Diving Team took second place with 954.5 points this week from the Ronald G. Mayers Aquatics Center.
The Lady Statesmen had 17 top three finishes throughout the five-day championship meet including a pool record from
Janne Bodemer.
Day One and Two
The 800-yard freestyle relay team of
Zinna Nimander,
Kaley Davis,
Olivia Murphy, and
Ave Owens kicked off the championship meet with a second-place finish with a B consideration time of 3:23.71.
In the 50-yard freestyle, Owens would get a B consideration time of 23.46 seconds, finishing in third place. Owens, Nimander, and Murphy all had B consideration times finishing third, fourth, and fifth.
On the diving boards,
Reagan Fulton finished in third in the 1-meter dive with a score of 422.35.
In the 200-yard medley relay, the team of
Kaley Davis,
Pia Delkeskamp, Nimander, and Owens collected a B Consideration time of 1:40.78 finishing in second.
Day Three
Starting off day three, Nimander would get an NCAA D2 invite time of 54.85, finishing in third place in the 100-yard butterfly.
The relay team of Davis, Delkeskamp,
Mikayla Kloth, and
Olivia Murphy would get second place in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:45.40.
Day Four
Juniors Bodemer and
Julia Santiago earned a invite to the D2 NCAA Championships in the 200-yard butterfly to start the evening as Bodemer won the NSISC championship with a pool record of 1:59.55
In the following event, Murphy would get a 2024 NCAA D2 invite time of 55.15 seconds in the 100-yard backstroke.
Hannah Murray and
Hannah Jones would finish second and third in the 100-yard breaststroke finals as Murray would finish with a time of 1:03.45. Jones finished in 1:03.67.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Owens, Murphy, Nimander, and Davis would finish second with a time of 1:32.74.
Day Five
Kaley Davis would earn a B consideration time of 2:02.36 in the 200-yard back stroke, finishing in second place.
In the next event,
Hannah Murray earned a 24 D2 NCAA invite time of 2:17.90 in the 200-yard breaststroke.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Nimander, Davis, Murphy and Owens earned a second-place finish with a time of 3:23.71 to finish the meet.
