CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University Men's Golf Team finished in third place as a team with a third-place finish from freshman
Zach Olsen this week in the Derrall Foreman Invitational at the Cleveland Country Club.
As a team, the Statesmen shot 866 (+2) earning the outright third place finish in the team standings. Arkansas Tech ended up winning the Invitation shooting 837 (-27).
Leading the way for Delta State was freshman
Zach Olsen. The Germantown, Tenn., native finished in third place shooting a three-round total of 208 (-8). Olsen finished Monday with back-to-back 70s on the scorecard. Olsen got stronger as the tournament went on as he shot a 68 (-4) in the third and final round
Senior
Matt Nicell finished tied for 12
th as he shot a three-round total of 217 (+1). Nicell finished day one on a high note as he posted a tie for the lowest score in the second round with a 67 (-5).
The Statesmen will take a week off before participating in the Arkansas Collegiate in Magnolia, Ark., on Monday, March 24.
