Chris Booker is one of the most decorated players in Delta State football history as a starting offensive lineman from 1999-2002. The Clarendon, Arkansas, native is Delta State's only four-time All-Gulf South Conference football player and was a consensus three-time All-American.  Booker was named First-Team All-American by Daktronics and Associated Press in 2000, 2001, and 2002 and by D2Football.com in 2001 and was a Second-Team selection by Don's Hansen's Football Gazette in 2000 and 2001 and D2Football.com in 2000.  The Statesmen claimed the Gulf South Conference and NCAA South Region titles and defeated Bloomsburg 63-34 to win the 2000 NCAA Division II Football National Championship.Â

Booker and the Statesmen offensive line paved the way for several DSU records in 2000, including nine rushing touchdowns in the NCAA Division II title game. That season the offensive line was also a key to quarterback Josh Bright's DSU record 2,923 total offense yards and 21 touchdowns while claiming the 2000 Conerly Trophy, awarded annually to Mississippi's top collegiate player, and Rico McDonald's season record 1,637 yards rushing.
