 - Played on state championship high school team from New Site, MS
 - Was outstanding member of post-World War II team that defeated the University of Southern Mississippi, Memphis State, Murray State and others
 - Team compiled a 4 year record of 67-22 and qualified for two national NAIB Tournaments
 - After graduation, coached in Arkansas and Florida high schools
